A Few Words

Milton Keynes Swahili Community

Milton Keynes Swahili Community is a community of Swahili-origin people. The community is made for the people living in Milton Keynes. The community empowers people and for the growth of Swahili people.

It’s registered as a charitable organization and is managed as per the conditions and by-laws.

Our Mission, Aims, and Objectives

The mission is to promote, expand, and enhance good relations and cooperation in the social and cultural activities of Swahili culture. Our main goal is to bring Swahili people together and to provide them with all the resources they will need.

Our main goal is to unite members and improve individual lives, and relations, and build a community for the Swahili speakers living in Milton Keynes by uniting efforts. Due to the nature of the community, the languages used shall be Swahili and/or English.

The community is made to bring Swahili people closer and maintain the roots of the origin by promoting the activities and forming an engaging community. Our objective includes improving racial equity and providing equal opportunity for the members. Help and support is the utmost motto of the community. We support the members in times of bereavement (as per the constitution).

MKSC also focuses on training and education for the members. We are not just limited to the MKSC, maintaining and fostering good relationships with other communities is also our motto.

The association is a non-religious, non-political, and non-profit organization. As the community is for the Swahili people, it shall be democratic. To ensure proper growth, the community shall engage with other communities and entities while maintaining identifying itself as a single independent entity.

Managing the Community

The people of MKSC will elect community members who will manage the community. An election will be held every 2 years to appoint the executive. There will be a total of 8 members for 3 major roles. The main person responsible for the community is the chairperson. Along with this, there will be a secretary and a treasurer to take care of the community.
A proper election is done to elect these members. Annual and general meetings are hosted by the executive committee to maintain proper communication and to hear the problems of the people as well.

Membership

Anyone can be a member of the Swahili community as long as they originate from Swahili. A small one-time fee is taken along with the annual fee to provide the best resources. As the community is non-profit, no profits will be taken. The membership fees are used for the development of the community and to provide proper education, training, ad bereavement to all the members.

The members are requested to follow the constitution and respect other members. The core mission of the community is to bring the people together.

Finances

As the membership fees are taken, a proper finance department is maintained for the funds. The funding is not just limited to the membership fees, fundraisers will be considered to promote the growth of the committee and to give proper facilities to the members.

A finance committee will be responsible for managing the entire finances of the community. The finance source includes membership fees, fundraisers, and every other deemed lawful in generating the organization’s revenues.

The Constitution

The rules and regulations of the Milton Keynes Swahili Community are stated in the constitution. The constitution shall be treated as an official document and the same rules shall be followed.
